Planting for the Future
The 3 Million Trees project is a campaign aimed at reforestation, specifically designed to support the conservation of the Philippine eagle. This initiative was launched by the Philippine Eagle Foundation in collaboration with Globe.
I had the opportunity to work with PEF in creating a sticker pack featuring native tree species found in the forests of the country that have been documented to be Philippine eagle nesting trees. A total of nine species were illustrated for this sticker pack. Among the featured species were Red Lauan (Shorea negrosensis), Almaciga (Agathis philippinensis), Mapilig (Xanthostemon bracteatus), Mangachapui (Hopea acuminata), Almon (Shorea almon), Tangile (Shorea polysperma), Igem (Dacrycarpus cumingii), Binuang (Octomeles sumatrana), and White Lauan (Shorea contorta).

Before this project, I hadn't illustrated many Philippine native trees since most of my illustrations were about epiphytes, shrubs, and other small plants. So when Harold of the Philippine Eagle Foundation approached me to do this sticker pack, I eventually said yes to also explore illustrating the country's towering giants.
If you swing by the Philippine Eagle Center and they still have sticker sheets, grab one! Every cent goes towards reforestation near the Philippine eagle nesting spots.
